Data story: India logs 16,906 new Covid cases, 122,041 infections in 7 days

India reported an increase of 1,414 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 132,457. The country is twenty-fifth among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On July 13, it added 16,906 cases to take its total caseload to 43,669,850. And, with 45 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 525,519, or 1.20 per cent of total confirmed infections.

With 1,115,068 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on July 12, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,991,279,010. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 43,011,874 — or 98.49 per cent of the total caseload — with 15,447 new cured cases being reported on July 13.
