India on Tuesday reported a net reduction of 4,882 to take its count of active coronavirus cases to 163,353, the lowest since June 19 and 83.95 per cent lower than the September 18 peak of 1,017,754. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases has declined to 0.63 per cent (one in 159). The country is 17th among the most affected countries by active cases. India added 8,635 cases, the lowest single-day spike in total cases since June 2, to take its total caseload to 10,757,610. And, with 94 new fatalities, the fewest in a day since May 12, its Covid-19 death toll reached 154,486, or 1.44 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 
With 191,313 more vaccinations across India on Saturday, the total count of those inoculated reached 3,950,156. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 10,448,406 – or 97.05 per cent of total caseload – with 13,423 new cured cases being reported on Tuesday.
 
  • With a daily increase of 8,635 in total cases, the lowest single-day spike since June 2, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 10,757,610 on Monday to 10,766,245 – an increase of 0.1%. Death toll has reached 154,486, with 94 fatalities in a day. Now the seventeenth-most-affected country by active cases, fourth by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 89,407 cases in the past 7 days.
  • India now accounts for 0.63 % of all active cases globally (one in every 159 active cases), and 6.87% of all deaths (one in every 15 deaths).
  • India has so far vaccinated 3,950,156 people. That is 36.69 per cent of its total caseload, and 0.2846 per cent of its population.
  • Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 55 days.
  • The count of active cases across India has seen a net reduction of 4,882, compared with 549 on Monday. States that have reported a net increase in active cases are Chandigarh (11), Lakshadweep (5), and Ladakh (1).
  • With 13,423 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate has inched up to 97.05%, while the fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.44%.
  • The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.24%), Maharashtra (2.52%), and Gujarat (2.22%). The rate in as many as 13 is higher than the national average.
  • India’s new daily closed cases stand at 13,517 — 94 deaths and 13,423 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 0.70%.
  • India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.1%.
  • India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 863.9 days, and for deaths at 1138.8 days.
  • Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Kerala (3459), Maharashtra (1948), Tamil Nadu (502), Karnataka (388), and Chhattisgarh (322).
  • Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Kerala (92.15%), Maharashtra (95.26%), Punjab (95.55%), Gujarat (97.05%), and Uttarakhand (97.16%).
  • India on Monday conducted 659,422 coronavirus tests to take the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 197,752,057. The test positivity rate recorded was 1.3%.
  • Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (13.88%), Goa (11.83%), Nagaland (9.67%), Kerala (9.66%), and Chandigarh (9.63%).
  • Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Kerala (10.3%), Goa (4.4%), Nagaland (3.85%), Puducherry (2.44%), and Chandigarh (2.35%).
  • Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (544319), J&K (345538), Kerala (275003), Karnataka (259692), and Andhra Pradesh (252002).
  • The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (2028347), Karnataka (939775), Kerala (932637), Andhra Pradesh (887900), and Tamil Nadu (838842).
  • Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 1,948 new cases to take its tally to 2028347. The state has added 24,690 cases in the past 10 days.
  • Karnataka, the second-most-affected state, has reported 388 cases to take its tally to 939775.
  • Kerala, now the third most-affected state by total tally, has added 3459 cases to take its tally to 932637.
  • Andhra Pradesh has added 64 cases to take its tally to 887900.
  • Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 502 to 838842.
  • Delhi has added 121 cases to take its tally to 635217.
  • Uttar Pradesh has added 171 cases to take its tally to 600470.
