 India on Sunday reported a net reduction of 77,449 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 1,477,799. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases now stands at 11.24 per cent (one in 8). The country is second among the most affected countries by active cases. On Saturday, it added 114,460 cases to take its total caseload to 28,809,339. And, with 2,677 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 346,759, or 1.20 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 
With 3,353,539 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on Sunday, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 231,322,417. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 26,984,781 – or 93.67 per cent of total caseload – with 189,232 new cured cases being reported on Sunday.
 
  • With a daily increase of 114,460 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 28,694,879 on Sunday to 28,809,339– an increase of 0.4%. Death toll has reached 346,759, with 2,677 fatalities. Now the second-most-affected country by active cases, total cases and recovery, and third by death, India has added 914,539 cases in the past 7 days.
  • India now accounts for 11.24% of all active cases globally (one in every 8 active cases), and 9.21% of all deaths (one in every 11 deaths).

  • Among Indian states, the top 5 in terms of number of vaccine shots administered are Maharashtra (28766168), Uttar Pradesh (25088303), Rajasthan (22398664), Gujarat (22139717), and West Bengal (20148165).
  • Among states with more than 10 million population, the top 5 in number of vaccine shots per one million population are Kerala (358550), Delhi (357296), Gujarat (346624), Uttarakhand (319342), and J&K (302804).

  • The count of active cases across India on Sunday saw a net reduction of 77,449, compared with 80,745 on Saturday. States and UTs hat have seen the biggest daily net increase in active cases are Assam (638), Nagaland (124), Tripura (114), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (10).
  • With 189,232 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate stands at 93.67%, while fatality rate has unchanged at 1.20%.
  • The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (2.60%), Uttarakhand (2.00%), and Nagaland (1.86%). The rate in as many as 18 is higher than the national average.
  • India’s new daily closed cases stand at 191909 — 2,677 deaths and 189,232 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 1.39%.
  • India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.4%.
  • India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 174.1 days, and for deaths at 89.4 days.
  • Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Tamil Nadu (21410), Kerala (17328), Karnataka (13800), Maharashtra (13659), and Andhra Pradesh (10373).
  • Among states with more than 100,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Tamil Nadu (87.19%), Karnataka (88.84%), Andhra Pradesh (92.03%), Kerala (93.21%), and Maharashtra (95.01%).
  • India on Sunday conducted 2,036,311 coronavirus tests to take the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 364,746,522. The test positivity rate recorded was 5.6%.
  • Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases – are Goa (18.86%), Maharashtra (16.04%), Dadra & Nagar Haveli-Daman & Diu (14.34%), Kerala (12.83%), and Sikkim (12.58%).
  • Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Nagaland (21.16%), Kerala (14.89%), Goa (13.76%), Meghalaya (12.31%), and Tamil Nadu (12.21%).
  • Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (1051870), J&K (646575), Kerala (571572), Karnataka (450577), and Uttarakhand (438832).
  • The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (5819224), Karnataka (2683314), Kerala (2618410), Tamil Nadu (2216812), and Andhra Pradesh (1749363).
  • Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 13,659 new cases to take its tally to 5,819,224. The state has added 168,317 cases in the past 10 days.
  • Karnataka, the third-most-affected state, has reported 13,800 cases to take its tally to 2,683,308.
  • Kerala, the second-most-affected state by total tally, has added 17,328 cases to take its tally to 2,618,391.
  • Tamil Nadu has added 21,410 cases to take its tally to 2,216,811.
  • Andhra Pradesh has seen its tally going up by 10,373 to 1,749,362.
  • Uttar Pradesh has added 1,027 cases to take its tally to 1,697,340.
  • Delhi has added 414 cases to take its tally to 1,428,856
