The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India now stands at 9,717,834 – or 95.77 per cent of total caseload – with 24,661 new cured cases being reported on Tuesday.
- With a daily increase of 23,067 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen 10,123,778 on Thursday to 10,146,845 – an increase of 0.2%. Death toll has reached 147,092, with 335 fatalities in a day. The ninth-most-affected country by active cases, third by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 167,398 cases in the past 7 days.
- India now accounts for 1.29% of all active cases globally (one in every 78 active cases), and 8.41% of all deaths (one in every 12 deaths).
- Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 32 days.
- The count of active cases across India has seen a net decline of 1930, compared with 5391 on Thursday. The states that have reported the highest net increase in active cases are Kerala (354), Maharashtra (320), Himachal Pradesh (52), Bihar (26), and Telangana (24).
- With 24,661 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate has improved to 95.77%; the fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.45%.
- The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.20%), Maharashtra (2.57%), and Gujarat (2.21%). The rate in as many as 13 is higher than the national average.
- India’s new daily closed cases stand at 24,997 — 336 deaths and 24,661 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 1.34%.
- India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.2%.
- India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 304.6 days, and for deaths at 303.1 days.
- Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Kerala (5177), Maharashtra (3580), West Bengal (1590), Chhattisgarh (1232), and Karnataka (1143).
- Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Himachal Pradesh (89.62%), Kerala (90.88%), Uttarakhand (92.32%), Chhattisgarh (93.25%), and Gujarat (93.69%).
- India on Thursday conducted 997,396 coronavirus tests, taking the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 166,305,762. The test positivity rate recorded was 2.3%.
- Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (15.48%), Goa (13.0%), Chandigarh (11.13%), Nagaland (9.95%), and Kerala (9.61%).
- Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Kerala (9.23%), Goa (5.37%), Nagaland (4.83%), Chandigarh (3.98%), and West Bengal (3.98%).
- Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (409961), J&K (275626), Andhra Pradesh (219735), Kerala (215361), and Karnataka (203894).
- The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (1909951), Karnataka (913483), Andhra Pradesh (880075), Tamil Nadu (811115), and Kerala (726687).
- Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 3,580 new cases to take its tally to 1909951. The state has added 26,586 cases in the past 10 days.
- Karnataka, the second-most-affected state, has reported 1143 cases to take its tally to 913483.
- Andhra Pradesh, the third-most-affected state by total cases, added 357 cases to take its tally to 880075.
- Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 1,035 to 811115.
- Kerala has added 5177 cases to take its tally to 726687.
- Delhi has added 1063 cases to take its tally to 620681.
- Uttar Pradesh has added 926 cases to take its tally to 578568.
