With 801,480 more vaccinations across India on Thursday, the total count of those inoculated reached 13,472,643. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 10750680 – or 97.17 per cent of total caseload – with 12,179 new cured cases being reported on Friday.
- With a daily increase of 16,577 in total cases, the most in a day since January 14, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 11,046,914 on Thursday to 11,063,491 – an increase of 0.2%. Death toll has reached 156,825, with 120 fatalities in a day. Now the fourteenth-most-affected country by active cases, fourth by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 10,097 cases in the past 7 days.
- India now accounts for 0.71% of all active cases globally (one in every 141 active cases), and 6.23% of all deaths (one in every 16 deaths).
- India has so far vaccinated 13,472,643 people. That is 121.78 per cent of its total caseload, and 0.97 per cent of its population.
- Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 67 days.
- The count of active cases across India saw a net increase of 4,278 on Friday, compared with 4,801 on Thursday. States that have seen the biggest daily net increase in active cases are Maharashtra (4902), Punjab (272), Madhya Pradesh (165), Gujarat (122), and Haryana (99).
- With 12,179 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate has reached 97.17%, while fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.42%.
- The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.21%), Maharashtra (2.44%), and Gujarat (2.20%). The rate in as many as 15 is higher than the national average.
- India’s new daily closed cases stand at 12,299 — 120 deaths and 12,179 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 0.98%.
- India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.1%.
- India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 462.3 days, and for deaths at 905.5 days.
- Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Maharashtra (8702), Kerala (3677), Punjab (563), Tamil Nadu (467), and Karnataka (453).
- Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Maharashtra (94.49%), Kerala (94.63%), Punjab (94.64%), Madhya Pradesh (97.59%), and Gujarat (97.62%).
- India on Thursday conducted 831,807 coronavirus tests to take the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 214,661,465. The test positivity rate recorded was 2.0%.
- Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (13.29%), Goa (11.21%), Nagaland (9.4%), Kerala (9.3%), and Ladakh (8.92%).
- Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Maharashtra (10.26%), Kerala (5.78%), Nagaland (5.77%), Goa (4.35%), and Chandigarh (2.81%).
- Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (615357), J&K (387615), Kerala (320911), Karnataka (282114), and Andhra Pradesh (265089).
- The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (2129821), Kerala (1048686), Karnataka (949636), Andhra Pradesh (889585), and Tamil Nadu (850096).
- Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 8,702 new cases to take its tally to 2129821. The state has added 62,178 cases in the past 10 days.
- Kerala, now the second-most-affected state by total tally, has added 3677 cases to take its tally to 1048686.
- Karnataka, the third-most-affected state, has reported 453 cases to take its tally to 949636.
- Andhra Pradesh has added 82 cases to take its tally to 889585.
- Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 467 to 850096.
- Delhi has added 220 cases to take its tally to 638593.
- Uttar Pradesh has added 129 cases to take its tally to 603232.
