With 2,919,699 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on Thursday, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 205,720,660. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 24,893,410 – or 90.34 per cent of total caseload – with 259,459 new cured cases being reported on Friday.
- With a daily increase of 186,364 in total cases, the lowest daily increase in 44 days, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 27,369,093 on Thursday to 27,555,457 – an increase of 0.7%. Death toll has reached 318,895, with 3,660 fatalities. Now the second-most-affected country by active cases, total cases and recovery, and third by death, India has added 1,523,466 cases in the past 7 days.
- India now accounts for 16.04% of all active cases globally (one in every 6 active cases), and 9.04% of all deaths (one in every 11 deaths).
- India has so far administered 205,720,660 vaccine doses. That is 751.65 per cent of its total caseload, and 14.78 per cent of its population.
- Among Indian states, the top 5 in terms of number of vaccine shots administered are Maharashtra (26383673), Uttar Pradesh (22009005), Rajasthan (21180330), Gujarat (20238977), and West Bengal (17852530).
- Among states with more than 10 million population, the top 5 in number of vaccine shots per one million population are Delhi (336609), Kerala (322065), Gujarat (316866), Uttarakhand (304404), and Chhattisgarh (284078).

- The count of active cases across India on Friday saw a net reduction of 76,755, compared with -75,684 on Thursday. States that have seen the biggest daily net increase in active cases are Odisha (6702), Tamil Nadu (2824), Assam (837), Manipur (219), and Meghalaya (200).
- With 259,459 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate stands at 90.34%, while fatality rate has increased marginally to 1.16%.
- The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (2.52%), Uttarakhand (1.92%), and Sikkim (1.69%). The rate in as many as 18 is higher than the national average.
- India’s new daily closed cases stand at 263,119 — 3,660 deaths and 259,459 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 1.39%.
- India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.8%.
- India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 102.1 days, and for deaths at 60.0 days.
- Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Tamil Nadu (33361), Karnataka (24214), Kerala (24166), Maharashtra (21273), and Andhra Pradesh (16167).
- Among states with more than 100,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Karnataka (82.98%), Tamil Nadu (83.05%), J&K (83.66%), Puducherry (84.18%), and Odisha (85.11%).
- India on Thursday conducted 2,070,508 coronavirus tests to take the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 339,039,861. The test positivity rate recorded was 9.0%.
- Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases – are Goa (18.87%), Maharashtra (16.64%), Dadra & Nagar Haveli-Daman & Diu (14.02%), Kerala (12.68%), and Sikkim (12.44%).
- Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Sikkim (27.29%), Goa (25.27%), West Bengal (22.82%), Andhra Pradesh (19.2%), and Tamil Nadu (19.16%).
- Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (1015945), J&K (617619), Kerala (540743), Karnataka (432176), and Uttarakhand (414159).
- The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (5672180), Karnataka (2523998), Kerala (2448554), Tamil Nadu (1978621), and Uttar Pradesh (1683865).
- Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 21,273 new cases to take its tally to 5672180. The state has added 267,112 cases in the past 10 days.
- Karnataka, the third-most-affected state, has reported 24,214 cases to take its tally to 2523998.
- Kerala, the second-most-affected state by total tally, has added 24,166 cases to take its tally to 2448554.
- Tamil Nadu has added 33,361 cases to take its tally to 1978621.
- Uttar Pradesh has added 3,181 cases to take its tally to 1683865.
- Andhra Pradesh has seen its tally going up by 16,167 to 1643557.
- Delhi has added 1,072 cases to take its tally to 1422549.
