The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India now stands at 10,129,111 – or 96.51 per cent of total caseload – with 17,817 new cured cases being reported on Wednesday.
- With a daily increase of 15,968 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen 10,479,179 on Tuesday to 10,495,147 – an increase of 0.2%. Death toll has reached 151,529, with 202 fatalities in a day. Now the fourteenth-most-affected country by active cases, third by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 120,215 cases in the past 7 days.
- India now accounts for 0.89% of all active cases globally (one in every 112 active cases), and 7.69% of all deaths (one in every 13 deaths).
- Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 43 days.
- The count of active cases across India has seen a net reduction of 2,051, compared with 5,968 on Tuesday. Five states that have reported the highest increase in active cases are Kerala (1212), Bihar (180), Odisha (42), Chandigarh (11), and Manipur (4).
- With 17,817 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate has increased to 96.51%, and fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.44%.
- The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.22%), Maharashtra (2.54%), and Gujarat (2.15%). The rate in as many as 13 is higher than the national average.
- India’s new daily closed cases stand at 18,019 — 202 deaths and 17,817 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 1.12%.
- India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.2%.
- India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 455.2 days, and for deaths at 519.6 days.
- Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Kerala (5507), Maharashtra (2936), West Bengal (751), Karnataka (751), and Chhattisgarh (729).
- Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Kerala (91.69%), Maharashtra (94.77%), Punjab (95.14%), Gujarat (95.34%), and Uttarakhand (95.50%).
- India on Tuesday conducted 836,227 coronavirus tests, taking the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 183,489,114. The test positivity rate recorded was 1.9%.
- Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (14.63%), Goa (12.39%), Chandigarh (10.46%), Nagaland (9.82%), and Kerala (9.59%).
- Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Kerala (8.52%), Maharashtra (5.11%), Goa (4.66%), Nagaland (4.05%), and Sikkim (3.68%).
- Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (480703), J&K (313467), Kerala (243467), Andhra Pradesh (237387), and Karnataka (235347).
- The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (1974488), Karnataka (928806), Andhra Pradesh (885234), Tamil Nadu (827614), and Kerala (819765).
- Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 2,936 new cases to take its tally to 1974488. The state has added 35,634 cases in the past 10 days.
- Karnataka, the second-most-affected state, has reported 751 cases to take its tally to 928806.
- Andhra Pradesh, the third-most-affected state by total cases, added 197 cases to take its tally to 885234.
- Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 671 to 827614.
- Kerala has added 5507 cases to take its tally to 819765.
- Delhi has added 387 cases to take its tally to 630892.
- Uttar Pradesh has added 495 cases to take its tally to 594175.
