Delhi: Criminal cases against Northeast people reduced in 3 years

Till Oct 2016, 84 cases were registered; 277 cases were registered in 2015 to that of 282 in 2014

As many as 704 cases of crimes against people hailing from the Northeast were registered in Delhi in last three years, Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said that in 2014, a total of 282 cases of crimes against people from the Northeast were registered in the national capital and 258 people were arrested for these cases.

In 2015, altogether 277 cases of crimes against Northeast people were registered in Delhi for which 174 people were arrested.

A total of 145 cases of crimes against Northeast people were registered in the national capital till October 31, 2016 in which 84 people were arrested, Rijiju said.

The Minister said that altogether 23 cases of crimes against Northeast people were registered in Gurgaon in last three years in which 21 people were arrested.

He said a total of 22 cases of crimes against Northeast people were registered in Karnataka in last three years in which 32 people were arrested.
