Congress-ruled Delhi, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Rajasthan will officially start allocating foodgrains according to the provisions of the National Food Security Ordinance from Tuesday, the birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
According to senior officials, all preparations to launch the ambitious programme have been made in these states. Earlier, the government had promulgated an ordinance in this regard. It has tabled a revised Bill in Parliament and it is expected the Bill would be taken up for discussion on Tuesday. The first version of the Bill was tabled in 2011.
