Members of disability groups Monday met Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley to demand the passage of the Disability Rights Bill in the ongoing parliament session.
The group demanded the passage of five crucial bills, including the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Bill and the Whistleblowers Protection Bill.
"We met Rahul Gandhi and Arun Jaitley today and both were supportive of the bills. All we want is that the parliament functions, and the bills can be passed," Disability Rights Group convener Javed Abidi told IANS.
"We have been told that in the next two days, the Telangana bill will be taken up. In the remaining days (before the session ends), other bills will be taken up," Abidi added.
