Latching on to the Supreme Court's recent observations, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal taunted the Centre, wondering whether it wants to appoint "BJP lawyers" as High Court judges instead of adhering to the collegium's recommendations.
In a series of tweets, Kejriwal termed as "shocking" the Centre's attempt to "interfere" and "stall" the functioning of the judiciary.
"Why centre not clearing names suggested by SC collegium? Does centre want BJP lawyers to be appointed as HC judges?" Kejriwal asked.
His comments came in the wake of the apex Court's reproach of the Centre's non-execution of the collegium's decision to transfer and appoint Chief Justices and judges in High Courts.
Observing that justice delivery system is "collapsing", the SC had earlier rebuked the Centre saying, it would not tolerate the resulting "logjam" and will intervene if necessary.
