In 2013, more Indians gave time and money to help people than citizens of any country, according to a Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) report. The report ranked 135 countries on the percentage of people who helped strangers, donated money and volunteered time. India was ranked 69th overall. The US and Myanmar were ranked first on the World Giving Index. Both the countries were ranked the best because the percentage of population involved in generosity was the highest. The number of people helping strangers and volunteering time had increased but the proportion of people giving money to charity had fallen slightly, CAF said.
