DFRL is a premier lab located at Mysore, involved in development of ready-to-eat food items of various varieties to meet the requirements of the three armed forces - Indian Army, Air Force and Navy.
S Christoper, secretary, Department of Defence R&D and director general, DRDO advised DFRL, Mysore and Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), Avadi, Chennai, based DRDO labs to extend all the immediate assistance and to provide the DRDO made ready-to-eat food products to the affected people due to heavy flood in and around Chennai.
"Three tons of food materials (Instant Upma mix , Instant Halwa mix, chapaties, vegetable pulav, sooji halwa, high energy bar, tomato rice. dhal fry, vermicelli kheer etc) were received from DFRL, Mysore and distributed in Tiruvallur and Chennai district," said an announcement from the Defence authorities.
As advised by District collector Tiruvallur and Commissioner Corporation Chennai, the three ton ready to eat food materials were distributed at different relief camps in five phases of distribution, it added.
