The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 8.8 kg of gold bars, valued at Rs 2.64 crore, from a ditch in open plot in Khambhaliya in coastal Jamnagar district.
Based on specific information that substantial quantity of gold bars smuggled through sea route via Kutch from Dubai were concealed in a ditch in Khambhaliya, DRI officials searched the ditches in the open plot on Monday.
They seized 8.8 kg gold bars of foreign origin during their operation.
The seized consignment, sources said, contained 58 gold bars weighing 100 grams each and 3 gold bars weighing 1 kg each.
The value of the confiscated gold bars is estimated to be Rs 2.64 crore.
