Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday called upon companies from the European Union (EU) countries to invest in infrastructure, airports, solid waste management, power, desalination and recycling of sewage in the state.

During an interactive meeting with the consul-generals of EU nations, Fadnavis asked them to take a lead so that European companies invest in the state. He said the state government was resolved to keep Maharashtra ahead in the Centre's ‘Make In India’ campaign and hoped that companies from the EU would partner the state in this effort.

Fadnavis said the state government would soon put in place an e-platform to grant various approvals needed for investments in a time-bound manner. Besides, the number of approvals required by investors will also be reduced. He added that Maharashtra was providing round-the-clock power to industries and the Centre had assured him of adequate coal supply to power projects in the state.

The chief minister said companies from the EU could invest in the development of the Navi Mumbai international airport and in the multi-modal international cargo hub and airport at Nagpur.
