Fake notes with face-value of Rs 11000 deposited at Dankaur Post

Fake currency notes with a face-value of Rs 11,000 were deposited at the Dankaur Post Office here, following which it  refused to accept cash in denominations of scrapped Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes.

The fake notes were detected when Postmaster M S Dagar went to deposit the cash at the Bulandhashahr Head Post Office.

"Till we get a machine to detect fake notes, the post office will not accept cash in denominations of demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes," the post master said.

"I had to deposit the Rs 11,000 from my own funds," he said, adding more than Rs 1 crore has been deposited at the post office between November 16 and November 18.
