A CBI court today granted bail to chief minister Oommen Chandy’s former gunman Salim Raj and seven others in the controversial Kadakampally land grab case.
The court has granted bail with a strict condition the accused should not enter Thiruvananthapuram district until further orders.
Also, the accused have been ordered to be present at the Kochi CBI office every Saturday. All the accused had been arrested by the Thiruvananthapuram unit of the CBI on June 3. Although the CBI counsel had strongly objected the bail plea citing the accused have influence even in the chief minister’s office, the court has allowed the bail plea.
According to the case, Salim had attempted to grab 44.5 acres of land at Kadakampally village in Thiruvananthapuram district by forging documents and through influencing officials of the revenue department.
