Former Twitter India head Rishi Jaitly has joined as the chief executive of Times Global, the unit of Times Internet, which looks at partnerships with media and technology companies globally.

"I'm looking forward to bridging the best ideas from the world's entrepreneurial centers into India and to sharing insights back to the world," Jaitly made his announcement on micro blogging platform Twitter on Wednesday. "At @TimesGlobal, we'll invest in & partner with world-class tech/media companies to help them realize their India opportunity more fully."

Jaitly as the India head of Twitter had popularised the platform among government departments for responding to citizen queries. Jaitly had talked of returning back to the US after his nearly four year stint in India for Twitter. Jaitly came to Twitter in 2012 from Knight Foundation where he headed the investment arm in media and technology firms which was aimed at helping these use new technology tools for engaging with citizens.

"We are thrilled to welcome Rishi to the Times Group. In the last decade, under Rishi's leadership, both Twitter and Google have successfully entered the Indian market, immersing themselves in every segment of the country's business, media and digital landscapes," Times Internet Vice Chairman Satyan Gajwani said in a statement.
