As the ground situation in Chennai deteriorates, some service providers take it upon themselves to help the flood-affected. State-owned BSNL and other private telecom operators will provide sevices free of charge for specified periods. 

There will be no charges on BSNL bills for one week in Chennai starting today said R S Prasad, Union Telecom Minister. Bharti Airtel announced it will provide free talk-time and data packs, among other services for their subscribers.

Deepinder Goyal, CEO of Zomato, announced 'Meal for flood relief' wherein for every meal purchased Zomato will buy same quantity of food for flood victims.

Paytm has put out a number which you can call and recharge a friend's phone for free.

TATA AIG has issued a toll-free 24x7 helpline to reach out to and assist its customers in Chennai. They have put together a team dedicated to attend to settle all the claim intimations at the earliest.

Earlier Ola announced it will offer free boat services to people stranded in flooded areas, but most of the residents have said the services did not reach them.
