If you are planning to travel, then book your flight tickets instead of train. It seems there are too many seats and too few passengers for airlines these days. Hit by the low demand, airline companies have slashed their prices too.

Vistara on Tuesday announced a sale offering all-inclusive flight fares starting at Rs1,149 in economy class and Rs 2,099 in premium economy. Bookings open at midnight on Tuesday and will be open till Friday for travel between 26 October and 24 March.

Vistara said in the release that passengers can book Delhi - Chandigarh and Delhi - Amritsar flight for Rs 1,199 and Rs 1,299 respectively; Delhi - Srinagar for Rs 1,699; Delhi - Leh, Delhi - Ranchi and Delhi - Mumbai for Rs 2,099; Delhi - Bagdogra for Rs 2,899; Delhi - Goa for Rs 2,999.

A spokesperson at MakeMyTrip, India's biggest travel portal said it has seen a dip of 9 per cent in fares booked in advance, Economic Times reported.

"Spot fares have overall dropped by about 1% but in some cases, especially for flights out of Delhi and Mumbai, fares are down by 16-18 per cent," Balu Ramachandran, head of the air travel business at Cleartrip.com told ET.

Online booking website MakeMyTrip also has "cheaper than rail" written next to many flights to indicate the drop in prices.
