Prachi Sukhwani was diagnosed with macular dystrophy while she was studying in the third standard. Macular dystrophy, also known as retinal degradation made Prachi lose 80 per cent of her vision over the years. She, however, did not stop dreaming and worked hard towards her goal.
Today, the 21-year-old is receiving applause from every corner as she has made it to Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A). Prachi has scored 98.55 percentile in CAT 2016, a report published in The Times of India said.
"My short term goal is to join a company, preferably a multinational. Once I get some experience, I will have my own start-up. But my long-term goal is to open an NGO for the blind," Prachi told TOI.
Prachi received calls from top three management institutes -- Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad, Indian Institute of Management-Bengaluru, Indian Institute of Management-Kolkata.
Suresh Sukhwani, Prachi's father runs a garment business while her mother Kanchan is an LIC agent. Prachi's elder sister Nishita is pursuing MBA from a Mumbai-based private college.
While speaking about Prachi's will to work hard, her father revealed that she never preferred wearing the special reading glasses diagnosed by doctors in Chennai as she considered them as a sort of obstacle and always remained engrossed in studies.
Currently, Prachi is a final year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) student at Maharaja Sayajirao University's Faculty of Commerce in Baroda.
