Hamid Ansari condoles death of former Indian diplomat Arundhati Ghose

Ghose passed away on Monday night in the capital due to age-related problems

Vice President M Hamid Ansari on Tuesday condoled the death of former diplomat Arundhati Ghose, saying she will be remembered for her role as head of the Indian delegation that participated in the CTBT (Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty) negotiations.

Ghose passed away on Monday night in the capital due to age-related problems.

"I am deeply grieved to hear about the passing away of former diplomat Arundhati Ghose. An eminent diplomat, she will be remembered for her services to the nation, including for her role as head of the Indian delegation that participated in the CTBT negotiations at the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva in 1996," said Ansari in his condolence message.

"I offer my heartfelt condolences to her family members and pray for eternal peace for the departed soul," he added.

Ghose was the first Indian Permanent Representative to the UN Offices in Geneva and was head of the Indian delegation that participated in the CTBT negotiations at the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva in 1996.

She also served as Ambassador to the Republic of South Korea and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
