Heavy rains lashed most parts of Gujarat region with Kaprada in Valsad district of south Gujarat receiving rainfall of 528 mm in last 36 hours. Many parts of central and north Gujarat also received moderate to rather heavy rainfall today.
According to the weather department monsoon was active over Gujarat region. Rainfall occurred at many places over Gujarat region and at a few places over Saurashtra-Kutch. They have forecast moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers at many places across the state of Gujarat and in Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, including Saurashtra-Kutch regions.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), officials said that the upper air cyclonic circulation over West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Gujarat region persisted. Also, the off shore trough on sea level chart extending from South Gujarat coast to Karnataka coast persisted.
Other places which registered heavy rainfall through out Tuesdayinclude Valsad taluka 200mm, Dharampur 191 mm, Pardi 185 mm, Vapi 166 mm. In other parts of Gujarat downpour continued in Bhavnagar 112 mm, Nadiad 100 mm, Sojitra 82 mm, Vadali 70 mmOplad 161 mm, Chikhli 101 mm, and Khergam 127 mm.

Heavy rains in Ahmedabad left many parts of the city in disarray with water-logging and falling of trees. According to the weather department till Tuesday morning Kaprada in Valsad had received 310 mm rain. As the heavy downpour continued it further received 218 mm till 1800 hours today, giving a combined total of 528 mm in last 36 hours.
