E-commerce companies in India burning money is now a well-known concept. Despite offering massive discounts and deals, these firms face a huge challenge in getting

customers to complete purchases after placing items into their shopping carts.

A study on consumer propensity done by enterprise software company SAP found that 56 per cent of Indians shopping online ‘ditch’ items placed in their shopping carts and never end up purchasing them.

Out of the 1,000 people surveyed, the company found that 45 per cent of them did not have any intent to purchase those products placed in their cart, 54 per cent of them were at some point put off the plan because of the higher than expected shipping charges, while 42 per cent faced issues of out-of-stock.
