Saradha promoter, Sudipta Sen, made all efforts to avoid an arrest, but in the end it all gave way.
Reports indicated that Sen left Kolkata in the wee hours of April 10 for Jharkhand in a black Scorpio carrying a Bengal number plate, with associate Arvind Singh Chauhan.
He halted in Ranchi for a night and then proceeded for North India with his associates. Another associate Debjani Mukherjee joined them later in North India.
The driver, who was left behind in Ranchi, provided the first clue. The police then checked with the hotel CCTV footage and trailed his route across states through toll plazas.
The trio was finally sighted in Srinagar this morning, they checked in last night in a Sonmarg hotel. The local police in Kashmir on a tip-off from Kolkata police finally detained them. Sen’s wife and son had been packed off to Noida earlier.
