HP transport minister appeals to call off strike

Worried about the proposed strike call by private transport operators in Himachal Pradesh on August 26, Transport Minister G S Bali on Thursday appealed to call off the stir .

"The government is open to talks with transporters and willing to accept some of their genuine demands ,"

The bus and taxi operators in the hill state are demanding a fare hike of 40 per cent among other demands .With a fleet of 3000 buses private buses outnumber state road ways buses. But private buses are mostly confined to urban and other profitable routes . While the state roads connects some of the remotest regions.
