Professor Debapratim Purkayastha, associate dean at ICFAI Business School (IBS), Hyderabad, has won the UK-based Case Centre's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the 'case method' this year.
For the first time, the award was bagged by a faculty member in India, said the UK-based Case Centre, which annually recognises the top contributors in the area of 'case teaching' and 'case writing'. Purkayastha is well-known globally for his work in case methods, IBS said.
"Professor Debapratim has a forward-looking commitment to transform case teaching and writing based on a fundamental belief in how the process uniquely prepares his students for their future careers," according to the UK-based Case Centre. The case approach uses decision-forcing cases to put students in the role of people who were faced with difficult decisions at sometime in the past.
