IIIT Kurnool starts admission process

The Andhra Pradesh government has earmarked 124 acre for the new institute

The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kancheepuram, has said classes for IIIT Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, was commencing from this month and admission will be provided on the IIITDM campus in Kancheepuram.

IIITDM Kancheepuram has been entrusted with the responsibility of incubating the new IIIT Kurnool as a mentor institute and guide it through its initial phases.

The Andhra Pradesh government has earmarked around 124 acres in Kurnool district for the setting up of the institute. The site selection committee with representatives from the human resource development ministry, AP government, IIITDM Kancheepuram director, and CPWD engineers inspected the site.

To start with, it would  admit students for two undergraduate programmes in B Tech Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) with an initial intake of 25 in each. Admissions to IIIT Kurnool will be along the lines of other centrally-funded IIITs (Allahabad, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Kancheepuram) and will be based on the performance in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main through central counseling by the Joint Seat Allocation Board, it said.
