The Maharashtra government today demanded that representatives of the state be included in the Indian delegation that is heading for Brussels to seek revoking of the ban on mango imports by the European Union.
"I hope the ban will be revoked," state Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said here.
He said the farmers and exporters should not panic as exports to the Middle East might rise.
The 28-member European Union imposed the ban, which will be effective from tomorrow, on import of Alphonso mangoes and four vegetables after finding unwanted pests such as "non-European fruit flies" in some consignments.
