The 75th Indian Road Congress to be held from January 18-22 in the city is expected to draw around 4,000 delegates, including 3,000 delegates from other states.
The event would be held at Janta Maidan in the city. Six technical sessions, one business session and one council meeting has been scheduled at the Road Congress to span five days.
The conclave would deliberate on topics like road safety, use of fly ash and waste materials in road construction, road planning designs, mitigation of permanent trouble spots on roads, road research, modern technologies for non-destructive pavement, assessment of Odisha PWD (public works department) roads using network survey vehicle, cable stayed & suspension bridge, SDA (structural decomposition analysis) technologies in steel bridge construction and advanced traveler information systems.
The state chief secretary G C Pati has urged the works department to collect and document the best practices on road safety adopted in other states and develop those for training and motivation. Pati has also stressed on showcasing tourism, textile and handloom treasures of Odisha in the event with active involvement of the departments of tourism and handloom & textiles.
