ISRO board meets to take stock on Mars Orbiter Mission

The meeting was to finalise to initiation the countdown for the November 5, 2013, Mars Mission launch

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO's) launch authorisation board today met at the Sriharikota space station. The meeting was to finalise to initiation the countdown for the November 5, 2013, Mars Mission launch.

Today's meeting was headed by the Director of Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR to take a call to initiate the final 56 hours 30 minutes countdown that will start at 6.08 am on Sunday.

The meeting came a day after ISRO successfully conducted a launch rehearsal at the First Launch Pad at SHAR, from where PSLV C-25 carrying the Mars Orbiter spacecraft is expected to slated for lift-off at 2.36 PM on November 5.

During the rehearsal, except for igniting the spacecraft, everything was tested including satellite battery check-up, withdrawing of mobile service tower and checking various technical parameters, including electrical activities were conducted and ISRO expressed his satisfaction of the outcome.

“Launch Rehearsal of PSLV-C25/Mars Orbiter Mission has been completed successfully in the afternoon on October 31, 2013. The Rehearsal of th Orbiter Mission commenced at 06:08 hrs on October 31, 2013 at First Launch Pad, SDSC SHAR. Vehicle systems powered and health is normal,” said ISRO.

The satellite has been already integrated with the launch vehicle, which is ready for launch in the First Launch Pad.
