Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai on Thursday night because of fever and dehydration, is under observation and is on a normal diet, said Subbiah Viswanathan, chief operating officer of the hospital on Saturday.
On Saturday also, state ministers and a large number of party men visited the hospital after hearing that their leader has been admitted there. While the hospital has already announced that she is in stable condition, many of her followers stayed in the premises with prayers for the health of their leader.
On Friday, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sent a bouquet of flowers and letter to the Chief Minister, wishing speedy recovery. She thanked the Prime Minister for the kind gesture, said a release issued by the State government.
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam supremo M Karunanidhi, a staunch criticiser and political opponent of Jayalalithaa, also wished her speedy recovery and stated that while both have different ideology, he wish her to get well soon and continue the works she was carrying out.
