After ruling the television space with his hit comedy talk show Comedy Nights with Kapil, stand up comedian Kapil Sharma will be seen making his debut on the silver screen in the movie Bank-Chor. The actor has also signed a three film contract with Yash Raj Films (YRF). His debut film  is being produced under YRF's Youth Films Division (Y-Films) which produced Mere Dad Ki Maruti last year.

Additionally, Sharma has signed on to YRF’s Talent Management Wing that handles celebrity endorsements and films including those of Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and Sushant Singh Rajput..

Bank-Chor is a comic-caper, that tells the story of three morons trying to rob a bank who pick the worst day possible when everything that can go wrong, goes wrong and how they are inadvertently caught in the crossfire of cops, industrialists and corrupt netas. The film is directed by Bumpy and produced by Ashish Patil and goes on the floors in April this year.

Sharma says, “The script is the most exciting part since it’s the kind of role that’s very unlike the stereotype of a comedian or what people could typecast me as. As an actor it’s challenging and I’m so excited that I’ve already started working on the nuances of the character. I’ve always loved and watched thrillers and this is a thriller comedy so even better. I’ve done serious theatre for years before comedy.”

Patil who also the business and creative head at Youth Films, Talent Management and Brand Partnerships at Yash Raj Films, says, “Kapil is one of the most exciting names in entertainment right now. He opens up a whole new space of films, brands & more for us. And audiences are going to get to see a whole new side of him in Bank-Chor. We’re thrilled to welcome him into the YRF jungle!”

Sharma currently hosts & produces  the hugely popular Comedy Nights with Kapil on Viacom18's Hindi general entertainment channel Colors.
