One person has been remanded to judicial custody and 22 others have been directed to leave the district as a precautionary measure against the background of the May 5 Karnataka Assembly polls.
District Police Superintendent R Dileep said on Thursday that action under CRPC had been taken against 1,419 persons in Mysore rural district. The deputy commissioner was requested to banish 27 persons of whom 22 have been given orders to leave the district.
Thirty-two cases had been registered under various sections and Rs 13,18,640 had been seized in connection with violation of election norms. In all, 57.680 litres of liquor had been seized and 13 cases registered. As many as 1,322 weapons had been surrendered to the police stations.
Police officers had been instructed to take all precautionary measures for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the elections, without giving scope for any incidents, the police superintendent added.
He has asked the general public to inform him of any violation of the election code of conduct.

In the eight Assembly segments in the rural district - Periyapatna, K R Nagar, Hunsur, H D Kote, Nanjangud, T Narasipur, Chamundeswari and Varuna - 219 polling booths were identified as very sensitive and 447 as sensitive. Some 1,154 booths were general booths and 38 check posts had been opened in the district, he said.
