Telangana chief minister K Chandraseskhar Rao today requested the railway ministry to change the name of Andhra Pradesh Express, being operated between Hyderabad and New Delhi, as Telangana Express.
The name of AP Express was given in the undivided state and it would be proper on part of railway ministry to replace the suffix of train with the name of the new state of Telangana, the chief minister's office said.
Rao would be writing a letter to the Centre in this regard. The state wants the name of the existing Telangana Express, which runs between Hyderabad and Sirpur Kagajnagar in Adilabad district, be changed as Komuram Bhim Express. Bhim was a tribal hero who fought against Asaf Jahi rulers of Hyderabad in pre-Indian Independence times.
