Australia's La Trobe University (LTU) signed a research Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab. Under the agreement both sides shall work on joint programmes, activities, projects and research in training and education in the areas of sport management and sport science.
There will be staff professional development and research opportunities between the parties. La Trobe students will also be offered internship opportunities by Kings Punjab XI during IPL tournaments.
Professor Leigh Drake, Executive Dean for Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, La Trobe University said that the university's constant endeavour to keeping creating improved opportunities for students of both the countries has brought them back to India again this year.
LTU also assigned a MoU with University of Mysore in the area of student mobility under India connect program. The University is additionally looking at opportunities to discuss tie-ups in more areas with Partner Institutes such as Lady Shriram College, Sharda University, XLRI Jamshedpur.
In the area of sports, where LTU plans to have an Articulation Agreement with Gian Jyoti where their MBA students after first year of their education with Gian Jyoti will have the option to enroll with La Trobe for 1 year and study Sports Management specialization with La Trobe, Australia.
The University officials also spoke about the introduction of a new Online MBA for working professionals. The course includes 10 core subjects and two electives, allowing students to specialise in either Entrepreneurship or International Management. Students also complete two professional experience activities: an ePortfolio and a final boardroom simulation that brings together all the elements of their course.
The university also has the Amitabh Bachchan Scholarship. Roshan Kumar from India was the winner of the Amitabh Bachchan Scholarship recently. His research topic was 'Social Media aiding Healthcare Communication in India: A Knowledge Management perspective'. The scholarship will be presented every four years by Mr Bachchan to an Indian citizen to develop a thesis related to media, digital technology and communication.
