Punjab logs 42 fresh Covid cases, 1 death in a day

Punjab reported 42 fresh cases of COVID-19 in a day which pushed the infection tally in the state to 6,03,043, according to a medical bulletin on Tuesday. With one Covid-related fatality reported in Mansa district, the death toll reached 16,587, it stated.
 
Among the fresh COVID-19 cases, Muktsar reported 13, followed by five each in Patiala and Mohali and four each in Faridkot and Jalandhar.
 
The number of active cases in the state rose to 270 from 262 on Monday. Thirty-two more people recovered from the infection, taking the number of those who have been cured to 5,86,186, according to the bulletin. The Union Territory of Chandigarh reported five fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total count to 65,415. No fatality was reported in Chandigarh and the death toll stood at 820. The number of active cases in the city was 35 while the number of cured people was 64,560.

Chhattisgarh sees 39 COVID-19 cases, one death; no fresh case in 14 districts

Chhattisgarh's COVID-19 count reached 10,06,616 on Tuesday with the addition of 39 cases, while the death toll stood at 13,593 after one patient died during the day, an official said.
 
The recovery count was 9,92,698 as six people were discharged from hospitals and 11 completed home isolation during the day, leaving the state with 325 active cases, he said.
 
"Raigarh district recorded seven new cases, Durg six and three districts, including Raipur, saw four cases each. No fresh cases were reported in 14 districts," he added.
 
With 24,592 samples being examined during the day, the number of tests in the state went up to 14,112,557, the official said.
 
Chhattisgarh's coronavirus figures are as follows: Positive cases 10,06,616, New cases 39, Death toll 13,593, Recovered 9,92,698, Active cases 325, today tests 24,592, Total tests 14,112,557.

Assam reports 207 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths

Assam's COVID-19 tally rose to 6,15,781 as 207 more people tested positive for the infection on Tuesday while two new fatalities pushed the death toll to 6,079, a bulletin issued by the state National Health Mission said. The two new deaths were reported from Kamrup (Metro) district. The state on Monday had reported 192 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths. Of the 207 new cases, Kamrup (Metro) district reported 91 cases followed by 19 in Kamrup (Rural), 18 in Udalguri and 13 in Barpeta.
 
The new cases were detected out of 36,720 tests with a single-day positivity rate of 0.56 per cent.
 
Assam currently has 1,629 active COVID-19 cases, according to the bulletin.
 
A total of 6,06,726 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far, including 157 during the day. The COVID-19 recovery rate now is 98.53 per cent. The cumulative beneficiaries administered COVID-19 vaccine in the state so far is 3,20,00,694 with 2,08,86,171 receiving the first dose and 1,11,14,523 administered both doses.

153 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths in Telangana

Telangana on Tuesday logged 153 fresh COVID-19 cases, pushing the tally to 6,74,845, while the toll rose to 3,984 with two more fatalities.
 
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation accounted for the most number of cases with 60, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (14) and Ranga Reddy (12) districts, a state government bulletin said, providing details as of 5.30 PM on Tuesday.
 
The number of recoveries outnumbered fresh cases with 157 people recovering from the virus, taking the cumulative number so far to 6,67,328.
 
The number of active cases stood at 3,533, the bulletin said.

Delhi records zero death, 27 Covid cases in a day; positivity rate 0.05%

The national capital reported zero death and 27 COVID-19 cases in a day with a positivity rate of 0.05 per cent, according to data shared by the Delhi government on Tuesday.
 
With the fresh cases, the total number of cases reported in the city rose to 14,40,719. The death toll stayed at 25,095.
 
A total of 49,590 tests for the detection of COVID-19 were conducted the previous day. It included 39,341 RT-PCR, CBNAAT and True Nat tests while the rest were rapid-antigen tests.

Over 118 crore Covid vaccine doses administered in India so far, says Health Ministry

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 118 crore on Tuesday, the Union Health Ministry said. Over 68 lakh vaccine doses have been administered on Tuesday till 7 pm, it said while underlining the tally is expected to increase with the compilation of the final reports for the day by in the late night.
 
The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16 with healthcare workers getting inoculated in the first phase. The vaccination of frontline workers started from February 2.
 
The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from March 1 for people over 60 years of age and those aged 45 and above with specified co-morbid conditions.
 
Vaccination for all people aged more than 45 years was launched on April 1. The government then decided to expand its vaccination drive by allowing everyone above 18 to be vaccinated from May 1.

TN's Covid-19 tally at 27.21 lakh with 741 new cases

Tamil Nadu added 741 new Covid-19 infections pushing the tally to 27,21,762 while the death toll rose to 36,401 with 13 more fatalities, the Health department said on Tuesday.
 
Recoveries eclipsed new infections with 808 people getting discharged in the last 24 hours, aggregating to 26,76,825 leaving 8,536 active infections, a medical bulletin said.
 
A total of 1,00,817 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative number of specimens examined to 5,35,60,440.
 
Coimbatore and Chennai accounted for the majority of new infections with 119 and 114 cases, respectively, while the remaining was scattered across other districts.
 
As many as 23 districts reported new Covid-19 infections below 10, which include Tuticorin reporting zero active cases in the district, the bulletin said.

Saudi Aramco said it will continue to look for investment opportunities in India, days after Reliance Industries Ltd. scrapped a plan to sell a stake in its oil-to-chemicals unit to the Middle Eastern company.
