The Government of India has decalred one-day state mourning as a mark of respect to Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away at the Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Thursday at the age of 96. The national flag will be flown at half-mast on Sunday throughout India and there will be no official entertainment programme on that day, a statement issued by the government said on Friday.

After accessing the situation of flood-hit Pakistan, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Saturday said that he has "never seen climate carnage" on such a scale, blaming wealthier countries for the devastation. "I have seen many humanitarian disasters in the world, but I have never seen climate carnage on the scale of the floods here in Pakistan," he said at a press conference in the port city of Karachi after witnessing the worst of the damage in southern Pakistan, ARY News reported. "I have simply no words to describe what I have seen today," the UN chief said.

Pak PM to attend the UNGA in New York on Sep 19

Pakistan Prime Minis­ter Shehbaz Sharif along with other senior officials is expected to arrive in New York on September 19 to attend the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, UN sources told Dawn. Sharif is scheduled to address the General Assembly on September 23 and is expected to return to Pakistan the same evening.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Federal Minister for Broadcasting and Information Maryam Aurangzeb will accompany Sharif.

India mourns demise of Queen Elizabeth II: National flags fly at half-mast

As India observes one-day state mourning as a mark of respect to Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on September 8, the national flags at all government buildings including Red Fort and Rashtrapati Bhavan fly at half-mast on Sunday.

Queen Elizabeth II, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland breathed her last in Scotland.

"As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, the Government of India has decided that there will be one day of State Mourning on September 11th throughout India," reads a statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

ED recovers over Rs 17 cr in 5 trunks from Kolkata businessman Aamir Khan

Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials who recovered over Rs 17 crore from the residence of a businessman in Kolkata, found 10 trunks on the spot.

The recovery was made from the Garden Reach residence of businessman Aamir Khan. The cash was found in 5 trunks at Khan's residence.

The search of the probing agency started on Saturday morning and the counting of cash continued till late at night. The ED search team was accompanied by Bank officials and central forces.

Amit Shah in Gujarat today, to unveil Lord Hanuman's statue in Somnath

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will take part in a cooperative conference in Gujarat's Amreli district on Sunday and unveil a 16-feet tall statue of Lord Hanuman in Somnath town.

As per the schedule shared by the Gujarat BJP unit, Shah will begin the visit by attending a conference of cooperative organisations of Amreli district in his home state, where the Assembly elections are due later this year.
