No need to panic, situation under control: Kejriwal after Delhi reports its first monkeypox case

With Delhi reporting its first monkeypox case, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said an isolation ward for such patients has been set up at the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital and there is no need to panic.
 
The Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital, which was the nerve centre of the national capital's fight against COVID-19, also constituted a 20-member team comprising dermatologists, physicians, doctors of different specialities, nurses, orderlies and technicians.
 
The 34-year-old patient from west Delhi is recovering at the designated isolation centre at the LNJP Hospital.
 
In a tweet, Kejriwal said, "The patient is stable and recovering. There is no need to panic. The situation is under control. We have made a separate isolation ward at LNJP. Our best team is on the case to prevent the spread and protect Delhiites."

CISCE Class 12 results: Mubashira Shamim tops Delhi with 99.25%

Mubashira Shamim emerged as the Delhi topper with 99.25 per cent score in the Indian School Certificate Class 12 examination. Siddhi Mishra, Jayant Kapoor and Anisha Wahi were ranked second with 98 per cent, while Khushi Kataria secured the third rank in the national capital with 97.25 per cent.
 
A total of 181 candidates, including 19 girls, from Delhi appeared in the exam, conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). All the students aced the exam.
 
The exams were conducted in 49 written subjects, of which 12 were Indian languages, five foreign languages and two classical languages. Two Scheduled Caste, two Scheduled Tribe and seven Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates took the exams and all of them passed it. The five students belong to The Frank Anthony Public School.

Suspected case of monkeypox found in Telangana

A 40-year old person, who returned from abroad to Kamareddy district in Telangana, has shown symptoms of monkeypox, state health officials said on Sunday.
 
The patient is being shifted to Government Fever Hospital here, they said.
 
The person, who showed symptoms of monkeypox, came from Kuwait on July 6 and developed fever on July 20. The person got admitted to a private hospital in Kamareddy district after developing rashes on July 23, State Director of Public Health G Srinivasa Rao said in a release.

PM Narendra Modi asks BJP-ruled states to boost business environment

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday held a marathon meeting with chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, and asked them to ensure saturation-level coverage of welfare schemes and boost the business environment in the country.
 
The meeting, which lasted for over four hours, was attended by chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of 18 states. BJP president J P Nadda was also present.

Monkeypox case in Delhi takes India's tally to 4; Centre holds high-level review meeting

A 34-year-old man from Delhi with no history of foreign travel tested positive for monkeypox, taking India's tally of cases to four and prompting the Centre to hold a high-level review meeting, the government said on Sunday. Three cases of monkeypox was earlier reported from Kerala.
 
The patient who is presently recovering at a designated isolation centre at the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital in Delhi had attended a stag party in Manali in Himachal Pradesh recently, official sources told PTI.
 
According to official sources, so far nine contacts, including family members of the patients, have been quarantined and they are being followed up. They are asymptomatic as of now.

Mumbai sees 238 coronavirus cases, two deaths, 274 recoveries in a day

Mumbai on Sunday recorded 238 COVID-19 cases and two deaths, taking the tally in the metropolis to 11,22,912 and the toll to 19,640, a civic official said. The addition to the tally was less than the 266 recorded a day earlier, he pointed out.
 
Only 33 of the new cases are symptomatic, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official added.
 
The recovery count increased by 274 during the day to touch 11,01,455, leaving the city with an active caseload of 1,817, he said. The overall number of coronavirus tests in Mumbai reached 1,77,64,239, including 9,385 carried out on Sunday, he said. As per civic data, the recovery rate stands at 98 per cent and the growth in overall cases between July 17 and 23 was 0.024 per cent.

With a slight drop, India reported 20,279 new cases of Covid-19 after 3,83,657 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Sunday. India on Saturday reported 21,411 new Covid cases, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
