Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met state finance ministers today for pre-budget consultations

Most of the participants thanked the finance minister for financially supporting their states/union territories by enhancing borrowing limits, providing two advanced devolution instalments and through special assistance for capital expenditure. The participants also gave numerous suggestions for inclusion in the budget speech. The finance minister thanked the participants for their inputs and suggestions towards budget 2023-24 and assured to examine each of the proposals.

G20: First tourism track meeting to be held in Rann of Kutch

Preparations for the G20 meetings in India are on course and the first meeting under the tourism track will be held in the picturesque Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, a top official said on Friday. Union Tourism Secretary Arvind Singh also told reporters on the sidelines of an event at the UN House that sustainability will be one of the priority areas when India hosts the G20 events. India will assume the yearlong presidency of G20 on December 1 and more than 200 meetings of the bloc will be held across 55 locations in the country.

15-year-old govt vehicles will be scrapped: Nitin Gadkari

Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said all vehicles belonging to the Indian government that have completed 15 years will be scrapped, and a policy to that effect has been sent to states. He was speaking at the inauguration of the annual 'Agro-Vision' agriculture exhibition here. "Yesterday, I signed a file under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that all the vehicles of the Indian government which have completed 15 years will be scrapped. I have sent this policy of the Indian government to all the states. They should adopt this policy at the state level," he said.
