Four people confirmed dead after incident in English Channel - UK government statement

Four people have died following an incident involving a small migrant boat in the English Channel between Britain and France, the British government said in a statement."At 0305 (GMT) today, authorities were alerted to an incident in the Channel concerning a migrant small boat in distress," a government spokesperson said in a statement."After a coordinated search and rescue operation led by HM Coastguard, it is with regret that there have been four confirmed deaths as a result of this incident, investigations are ongoing and we will provide further information in due course."

Delhi excise policy case: Court sends businessman Amit Arora to 14-day judicial custody

A Delhi court on Wednesday sent businessman Amit Arora to two-week judicial custody in connection with a money laundering probe into alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy case. Special Judge N K Nagpal sent Arora, the director of Gurugram-based Buddy Retail Private Limited, to judicial custody till December 28 after he was produced before the court by the Enforcement Directorate on expiry of his 14-day custodial interrogation.

Students with four-year undergraduate degree can directly pursue Ph.D programmes, said UGC chairman Jagadesh Kumar on Wednesday. "Universities can decide whether to offer three-year Honours degree or four-year undergraduate programme," he stated. Three-year undergraduate courses won't be discontinued until 4-year programme fully implemented, he added.

The attack on the server of the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS-Delhi) originated in China. Out of the total 100 servers, five physical servers were infiltrated, and they have been retrieved now, ANI reported, quoting officials from the ministry of health and family welfare. In an interview, Badenoch said the two nations would like to conclude the negotiations as soon as possible, but it has to be a “right deal”.
