Rise in crime since Nitish Kumar's alliance with RJD, says Sushil Modi

BJP's Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Modi on Monday slammed the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government for the rising cases of crime in the state.

"The crime graph took a huge spike in Bihar ever since Nitish Kumar joined hands with the RJD and formed the government... RJD is a party where criminals were given shelter in the past. Leaders like Raj Ballabh Yadav of Nawada, former MLA of Bhojpur district Arun Yadav, former minister Kartikeya Singh and others are involved in various criminal cases," Modi said.

Fadnavis directs GST officials to work with cyber dept to curb frauds

Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday asked state GST (Goods and Services Tax) department officials to work closely with the cyber security department of the home ministry to curb increasing cases of financial frauds and cyber crimes.

Fadnavis, who also holds home and finance portfolios, issued the instruction after holding a meeting with GST officials as well as those of the state finance department. The review meeting was regarding the current functioning of the GST department, its achievements, growth in collection and intelligence network, among other issues.

All inhabited villages in the northeastern region and border areas must be connected with 4G network by December 2023, Union minister Kiren Rijiju said on Tuesday.

After reviewing the 4G saturation project for providing 4G mobile service to all inhabited villages of the Northeast at a meeting here, Rijiju said as telecom revolution is happening, no remote area should remain unconnected and this is the motto of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Delhi's air quality continues to improve; AQI under 'very poor' category

The air quality in Delhi continued to improve on Tuesday as the AQI was recorded at 324 under the "very poor" category.

According to data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the concentration of the PM 2.5 and PM 10 was recorded at 324 and 243, respectively, both under the "very poor" category.

Eight-coach Metro trains start running on 34-km-long Red Line in Delhi

The Delhi Metro on Tuesday introduced the first-ever eight-coach trains on the 34-km-long Red Line from Rithala to Shaheedsthal New Bus Adda.

The two trains have been converted from the existing fleet of 39 six-coach trains, and work on converting the remaining trains is on, an official release from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday indicated that the expansion of his Cabinet is likely after Gujarat Assembly polls.

Gujarat will go to polls in two phases on December 1 and 5, with the counting of votes on December 8. "Cabinet expansion...I have already spoken.....our leadership is a bit busy with the Gujarat elections, as soon as it is over they will call me (for discussions)," Bommai said in response to a question.

Emirates buys 5 Boeing 777 freighters in $1.7 billion-valued deal

Long-hauled carrier Emirates is buying five Boeing 777 freighters in a deal valued at more than USD 1.7 billion, further expanding its cargo flight capacity, the two companies announced on Tuesday.

Emirates previously announced a USD 1 billion investment to its cargo flights, including buying two new Boeing 777s and converting 10 Boeing 700-300ER passenger planes into freighter aircraft. The two new aircraft joined Emirates' fleet in 2022, while the conversions are scheduled to begin in 2023.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited the residence of veteran BJP leader LK Advani to greet him on his 95th birthday.
