India took part in a trilateral meeting with Russia and China on Tuesday, days after a clash between Indian and Chinese troops in Ladakh's Galwan Valley left 20 soldiers dead.

Chinese and Indian armies arrived at a consensus on the "outstanding issues" between them and agreed to take necessary measures to "cool down" the situation at their borders, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday.

In another development, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said Monsoon is expected to enter parts of Uttarakhand and nearby areas of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
 

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court cleared the decks for holding the historic Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Odisha's Puri on Tuesday, modifying its stay order and permitting the festivities without any public attendance, besides directing other precautions in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

India-China border face-off: Beijing talks peace amid troop build-up

A day after a 11-hour border meeting between senior military commanders of India and China, Beijing has welcomed an agreement to “cool down the situation”.

It said it would continue holding talks “for peace and tranquillity” along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

China terms reports of 40 PLA troops killed in Galwan clash as 'fake news'

China on Tuesday broke its silence over its casualties in the June 15 clash between Indian and Chinese troops while terming as sure "fake news" reports that more than 40 Chinese soldiers were killed in the face-off in eastern Ladakh.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian, who repeatedly parried questions on the casualties suffered by the People's Liberation Army since the incident occurred, reacted to the remarks of former army chief and Minister for Roads and Transport Gen (retd.) V K Singh who said, if we lost 20 soldiers, more than double the number were killed on their [Chinese] side.

Asked for his reaction on Tuesday at the media briefing, Zhao said. China and India are in dialogue and talks with each other to resolve this issue through diplomatic and military channels. Read on...

Galwan Valley clash: Russia rules out mediating between India and China

Russia on Tuesday ruled out mediating between India and China following the violent clashes in the Galwan Valley, saying the two nations do not need any kind of assistance to resolve their disputes.

 

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's remarks came after a virtual conference of the foreign ministers of Russia, India and China. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also attended the conference.

 

The conference was held amid escalating tension between India and China following the violent clashes in Galwan Valley on June 15 that left 20 Indian Army personnel dead, significantly escalating the already volatile situation in the region. Read more...

Sebi bars 20 entities for conducting fraudulent trading in Pyramid Saimira

Markets regulator Sebi on Tuesday restrained 20 entities from accessing securities market for conducting fraudulent trading in the scrip of Pyramid Saimira Theatre, thereby violating market norms.

The regulator has also directed two entities to disgorge unlawful gains of over Rs 21 lakh, made while dealing in the scrip of the firm.

Sebi found that as per media reports published in December 2008, the regulator had directed one of the promoters of Pyramid Saimira Theatre, P S Saminathan, to make an open offer for an additional 20 per cent stake at a price of at least Rs 250.

This led to an increase in the share price of Pyramid on December 22, 2008.

However, the company told exchanges that it had not received any communication from Sebi.

Shutting India's doors will not help, says CEA amid anti-China sentiments

Amid the current anti-Chinese sentiment triggered by the Sino-India border tension and talks of an import substitution policy, Chief Economic Advisor Krishnamurthy V Subramanian on Tuesday said shutting the doors to other countries will not help India.

 

He said the country had followed the import-substitution model till 1991, and that approach has been discredited since.

The relations between India and Russia are one of "Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership" and the ongoing military contracts between the two sides will be maintained and in a number of cases will be taken forward in a shorter time, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday.

 

Singh, who arrived here on a three-day visit on Tuesday at the invitation of the Russian Ministry of Defence to attend the 75th Anniversary of Victory Day Parade, said his visit to Moscow is the first foreign visit from India of an official delegation after the Covid pandemic.

 

"This is a sign of our special friendship. Chinese smartphone maker Realme on Tuesday said it will hire 7,500 people in India by the end of the year, and will add a slew of IoT (Internet of Things) products like smart toothbrush, sweeping machine and smart locks as it expands its product portfolio in the country.

The company, which competes with players like Xiaomi and Samsung in India, outlined its '1+4+N' product strategy, saying it will help Realme further enhance its smartphone and IoT product portfolios.

The core smartphone business will be the main centre of Realme's ecosystem, along with smart hubs (Smart TV, Smart Earphone, Smart Watch and Smart Speaker) and IoT products (in-car chargers, backpacks, luggage cases, to smart home gadgets), Realme Vice-President and India CEO Madhav Sheth said in a statement.

Latest News LIVE update: AIIMS to resume its OPD services from 25 June onwards

The administration of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has decided to restart its OPD (Out-Patient Services) from 25 June onwards after three months of its closure in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic. In the first phase, the OPD services will be for only for follow-up patients not more than 15 patients a day for every department.

 

"After multiple meetings with all HODs, we have decided to start OPD facilities from June 25 onwards. In the beginning, the OPD services will be for follow-up patients not exceeding 15 patients per day for each division," a senior official at AIIMS told ANI.

 

"Doctors can give OPD appointment directly through the department or through the computer-based facility. But, doctors those who will give appointment through the department will have to update it to the computer facility and faculty-in-charge of the OPD 48 hours before," official added.

 

The official said that all department heads have been directed to give information on the date of resumption of physical OPD for patients of the department concerned, a daily list of patients with their contact details who have been given an appointment for a physical consultation.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau on Tuesday announced to launch a new affordable smartphone product line in India that will have top-of-the-line internals at more accessible price point. The new product team is led by Paul Yu, who headed product hardware development for previous flagship devices over the past five years.

 

"We've also assembled a team of young, creative and enthusiastic OnePlus staff from all over the world, who have been working tirelessly over the past few months to bring this product line to life," Lau said in statement. He said that the company is going to start relatively small with this new product line by first introducing it in Europe and India.

Latest News LIVE update: Sebi eases compliance norms for FPIs

Relaxing compliance requirement for foreign portfolio investors (FPIs), Sebi on Tuesday allowed scanned copies of documents for renewing registration till August 31 in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. Earlier, this relaxation was given till June 30, PTI reported

 

In light of the prevailing situation due to Covid-19, the markets regulator received representations from various stakeholders about extending temporary relaxation with respect to compliance requirements for FPIs, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) said in a circular. Accordingly, the regulator has decided to extend the relaxations in a situation where FPIs are not in a position to send original and/ or certified documents.

 

Sebi has asked depository participants and custodians to process the request for registration, continuance, KYC and any other material change on the basis of scanned version of signed documents (instead of originals) and copies of documents which are not certified, received from e-mail IDs of their global custodians or existing clients where these details are already captured in records or e-mail IDs of new clients received from domains which are duly encrypted.

 

It, further said, these documents can be uploaded on KRAs (KYC registration agencies) websites and other intermediaries may rely on the papers.

Monsoon to reach Delhi within two days: IMD

Monsoon is expected to reach the national capital within the next two days, the India Meteorological Department said on Tuesday. It predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in the city on Wednesday and Thursday.

 

"Conditions are favourable for further advancement of monsoon into the remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh, entire western Himalayan region, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, most parts of Punjab and some parts of Rajasthan during the subsequent 48 hours," the IMD said.

 

Normally, the wind system reaches Delhi on June 27.

 

According to weather experts, the earlier than usual arrival of the monsoon in Delhi can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which moved towards southwest Uttar Pradesh on June 19 and June 20, helping it to advance further. On Tuesday, the national capital witnessed partly cloudy skies. The maximum temperature settled at 37 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal. Humidity levels oscillated between 63 and 86 percent. With rains expected over the next three days, the mercury is likely to hover around 36 degrees Celsius in the city.
