Indian consulate in Dubai coveys condolences over loss of lives

The Consulate of India in Dubai has expressed grief and conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the victims of the plane crash incident which took place at Kozhikode in Kerala on Friday evening.
 
The Consulate General of India (CGI), Dubai issued a helpline number for Air India Dubai -- +97142079444.
 
"As per the latest information from state authorities, search and rescue operation is over and all injured have been shifted to various hospitals like MIMS, Aster etc and in Mallapuram. Air India Dubai helpline +97142079444. CGI (Consulate General of India) Dubai expresses its deep condolences for deceased passengers," the Indian consulate in Dubai said in a tweet.

Both pilots among 17 dead in plane mishap

Seventeen people were killed and scores injured when an Air India Express flight from Dubai with 190 on board overshot the tabletop runway in Kozhikode airport in Kerala on Friday night while landing in heavy rains and fell into a valley 35 feet below and broke into two portions, officials said.
 
The pilot-in-command Captain Deepak Sathe and his co-pilot Akhilesh Kumar were among those who died, police and airline officials said. Sathe was a former Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and had served at the force's flight testing establishment.
 
"Unfortunately the pilots have passed away and we are in touch with their families in grief," said an Air India Express statement past midnight.

Vice-president condoles loss of lives in plane mishap

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu expressed deep anguish at the Air India Express accident in Kozhikode on Friday evening.
 
The flight from Dubai skidded off the runway and broke up into two while landing at the Karipur airport. At least 16 on board the flight have died, according to police.
 
"Deeply anguished by the loss of lives in the tragic air mishap at Kozhikode airport," the vice president's secretariat tweeted quoting Naidu.

Kerala Governor expresses condolences over loss of lives

Governor Arif Mohammed Khan expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in Kozhikode plane crash.
 
"My heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives following the crashlanding of Air India Express flight at Karipur. My prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured," PRO, Kerala Raj Bhavan said quoting the Governor.
 
Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja said that 14 passengers died in the incident and those injured are being rushed to Kozhikode Medical College and other nearby hospitals.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with leaders from across the political spectrum expressed their anguish over the tragedy.

The rescue operations at the site have been completed and the injured have been shifted to hospitals, according to officials. Two investigation teams of professionals will leave for Kozhikode today.
