Himachal Pradesh reports 3,084 new COVID-19 cases

Himachal Pradesh reported 3,084 new cases of COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, said the state health department on Tuesday.
 
During the last 24 hours, 15,588 samples were tested, out of which 3495 were RT-PCR tests.
 
With this, the total case count in the state has gone up to 2,48,895. In the state, 1,581 people recovered during the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 2,31,328. Five people died during the last 24 hours, taking the deaths in the state due to the virus to 3,885. There are currently 13,639 active COVID-19 cases in the state.

Rajasthan reports nine Covid deaths as 9,711 fresh cases surface

Nine people died from coronavirus in Rajasthan on Tuesday as 9,711 fresh cases surfaced, according to a Health Department bulletin.
 
The highest 2,358 cases were reported in Jaipur, 801 in Jodhpur, 677 in Udaipur, 569 in Pali, 568 in Alwar, 563 in Kota, 536 in Bharatpur, 426 in Hanumangarh, 380 in Chittorgarh and 358 in Bikaner.
 
According to the department, there were nine deaths due to the infection, including two each in Jaipur and Jodhpur, one each in Alwar, Ajmer, Bikaner, Dausa and Karauli.
 
A total of 9,019 people have died due to this deadly infection in the state so far.
 
According to the data, 7,056 people recovered from the infection in the state on Tuesday. At present, 69,388 people are getting treatment in the state.
 
Till Monday evening, 8,90,91,416 people have been given doses of coronavirus vaccine in the state. Of these, 26,06,024 belong to the age group of 15 to 18.

Delhi records 11,684 fresh Covid cases, 38 more fatalities

Delhi logged 11,684 fresh COVID-19 cases and 38 more deaths due to the disease on Tuesday, while the positivity rate declined to 22.47 per cent, according to a bulletin issued by the health department.
 
Tuesday's cases were 6.72 per cent lower than those of Monday's. The national capital had reported 12,527 new Covid cases and 24 deaths on Monday, and the positivity rate was 27.99 per cent.
 
A total of 52,002 tests were conducted to detect the infection on Monday compared to 44,762 tests n Sunday. According to the bulletin, 38849 tests were RT-PCR while the rest were rapid antigen.

Total of 158.74 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses administered

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country have reached 158.74 crore so far, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday. A total of 3,70,32,672 doses have been given to adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18 years, according to the ministry data.
 
More than 65 lakh (65,85,945) vaccine doses were administered till 7 PM on Tuesday.
 
Over 56 lakh (56,42,395) precaution doses have been administered to frontline workers, healthcare workers and citizens aged 60 and above with comorbidities so far. The daily vaccination tally is expected to increase with the compilation of the final reports for the day by late night.

Daily COVID-19 infections cross 28,000 mark in Kerala, govt to decide on curbs on Thursday

The Kerala government on Tuesday decided to strictly implement the COVID-19 health protocols as there is a surge in the number of coronavirus cases in the state which reported over 28,500 new infections.
 
Kerala which had recorded 2,435 new positive cases on January 1 witnessed a steady rise in the number of cases. The daily cases increased to 5,296 on January 7. On January 12 the daily infection rate went up to 12,742 and the state reported 22,946 fresh infections on January 17.
 
The state government has informed that a decision on restrictions including the closure of colleges and offices and curbs on people traveling in public transport among other matters will be discussed and decided in the COVID-19 evaluation meeting to be held on Thursday.

WHO urges manufacturers to provide COVID-19 vaccine data

A World Health Organization committee on Tuesday urged COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers to provide them with the data they require in order to list their shots for emergency use, saying that the delays were affecting equitable vaccine access.
 
"The Committee recognized the challenges posed by some manufacturers delayed submission of vaccine data to WHO," the WHO's Emergency Committee said in a statement, urging vaccine producers to provide the data as soon as possible.

Gujarat records highest single-day surge of 17,119 Covid cases

Gujarat on Tuesday recorded 17,119 new coronavirus infections, the highest rise in cases in the state in one day, which took the caseload to 9,56,112, the health department said.
 
Death toll due to the pandemic rose to 10,174 with ten patients succumbing during the day.
 
Gujarat had earlier reported its highest 14,605 new cases on April 30, 2021, during the second wave of the pandemic.

Uttar Pradesh reports 14,803 fresh Covid cases

Uttar Pradesh reported 14,803 fresh coronavirus cases on Tuesday, pushing its tally of active infections to 101,114, while 12 more fatalities raised the death toll to 22,984, according to an official statement.
 
Among the new cases, the maximum (2,173) were reported from Lucknow, followed by 1,262 from Gautam Budh Nagar, 909 each from Meerut and Varanasi, among other districts.
