Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday hit back at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, terming his remarks against his government as "false and ridiculous".
Addressing Rajasthan BJP booth functionaries in CM's hometown Jodhpur, Shah had targeted the state government over the murder of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal and the Karauli violence, alleging that the Congress can only indulge in politics of vote bank and appeasement.

The BJP will win all 80 seats from Uttar Pradesh in the 2024 parliamentary elections, wiping out the vote share of all opposition parties including the Samajwadi Party, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak claimed Saturday.
"Akihlesh Yadav has confined himself to Twitter and social media, while BJP leaders and workers are carrying out the message of welfare schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he told the media at the Circuit House here, attacking the Samajwadi Party chief.

Gujarat on Saturday recorded 171 new cases of coronavirus, taking the tally of infections to 12,72,157, an official from the state health department said.
The count of recoveries reached 12,59,803 after 212 patients recovered from the infection, while the toll remained unchanged at 11,018, he said.

The ED on Saturday said it has seized more than Rs 7 crore in cash after it raided the promoters of a Kolkata-based mobile gaming app company as part of a money-laundering investigation.
A photograph released by the federal agency showed bundles of seized Rs 500 currency notes along with a few in the denomination of Rs 2,000 and Rs 200 stacked together on a bed.

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Saturday termed the Central government's decision to impose 20 per cent duty on export of non-basmati rice and ban on export of broken rice as anti-farmer.

Gujarat is asking for change and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia will soon take out a march in the BJP-ruled state to fulfil the demand of people, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday.

Pakistan is still witnessing a severe dollar liquidity crunch despite the resumption of the last month of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, local media reported adding the floods in the country have aggravated the macroeconomic fundamentals.
The IMF programme under USD 6.5 billion was restored in late August.
Geo tv reported that Pakistan's currency has been under pressure since the Imran Khan regime while economists expected the rupee-dollar parity to improve after the revival of the IMF programme.

Former India skipper Virat Kohli on Saturday wished Australia white-ball captain Aaron Finch on his retirement from One-day International (ODI) cricket, saying it was great to play with and against him over the years.
While Kohli and Finch were involved in several nail-biting matches between the two countries, the Australian was also a part of Indian Premier League (IPL) side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) during the 2020 season where he played alongside the charismatic Indian cricketer.
Finch will play his last ODI on September 11 when he will lead Australia in the third and final game against New Zealand at Cairns. Australia have already taken an unassailable lead in the three-match series.

Registration of residential properties in Hyderabad region fell 36 per cent year-on-year to 5,181 units on lower demand, according to Knight Frank India.
In August 2021, 8,144 housing units were registered in the Hyderabad residential market that includes four districts -- Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy and Sangareddy.
Medchal-Malkajgiri district accounted for 44 per cent of the home sales registrations, followed by Rangareddy district at 38 per cent. The share of Hyderabad district in total registrations was recorded at 14 per cent in August 2022.

India has recently signed two trade agreements with the UAE and Australia and is hopeful of concluding the negotiations for two more such pacts by the end of this year, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said.
Negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) with the UK is expected to be concluded this month, while talks with Canada for a deal are progressing at a rapid pace.
Goyal said two FTAs have already been finalised this year and he is hoping for the conclusion of at least two more by the end of this year.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday appreciated the AAP-led Punjab government for regularising 8,736 school teachers, and urged all state governments to do the same.
He said the Delhi government had also brought in a Bill in the Assembly to regularise guest teachers in the national capital but the Centre did not approve it.
Kejriwal said all contractual government employees would be regularised in the states where the AAP comes to power.
All the states and the Centre should also do this, he added.

After weeks of torrential monsoon rain, Pakistans largest freshwater lake started overflowing in early September, putting thousands of people at risk of losing their homes, new satellite images showed.
The images, captured by NASA's Landsat 8 and Landsat 9 satellites, show breaches in the banks of Manchhar Lake, some of which have been made intentionally by local authorities to prevent the over-filled lake from spilling into densely populated areas in the Indus River Valley, Geo News reported.
The images show the pre-flood situation on July 25 and then detail the growing extent of the flooding on August 28 and September 5.

The Delhi High Court may pass judgement on September 12 on two petitions concerning the issue of admission procedure at St Stephen's College of Delhi for its unreserved seats category in undergraduate courses for the academic session 2022-23.
The Delhi High Court was examining two petitions, one was moved by Stephen College challenging the order of the Delhi University to grant admission in undergraduate courses through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and to withdraw the prospectus issued by the college and the second plea was moved by Monika Poddar, a law student, through a PIL challenging the college's decision to continue with interviews for admission to its general seats.
The bench of Justice Satish Chander Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad on August 30, 2022, had kept the order reserved in that matter after the conclusion of the submissions by all parties.
The Court while keeping the order reserved on Stephen's college petition also reserved the order on the PIL of the student, who had challenged the decision of St. Stephen's college to conduct an interview round for admission to the unreserved category for the academic session 2022-23. Both matters were heard by the bench together.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) has collaborated with the Indian Army for implementing a CSR project to coach and mentor less-privileged girl students in Kargil, a company statement said.
The project -- 'Kargil Ignited Minds' -- aims to prepare 50 girl students for various national-level engineering and medical entrance examinations.
It will focus on empowering the underprivileged girls with limited resources, residing in extreme weather conditions. The selection of students for this project is through a rigorous process involving screening, preliminary test and interviews.

Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said that the CPI(M)-led Left Front could not counter the BJP's populist campaign in the run-up to the 2018 assembly elections.
The BJP, which had less than 2 per cent vote share in the state, toppled the Left Front's government of 25 years in 2018, winning 36 seats in the 60-member assembly.
In its vision document unveiled ahead of the election, the BJP had promised 7th Pay Commission-recommended wages for teachers and government employees, employment for youths and more opportunities under MGNREGA for the poor, Sarkar said at a programme of his party CPI(M) on Friday.

Apple is delaying the launch of iCloud Shared Photo Library feature for a later iOS 16 release.
Apple webpage now lists the feature as "coming later this year."
Furthermore, it has also removed it from the latest iOS 16 betas, reports AppleInsider.
Apple announced iCloud Shared Photo Library as part of iOS 16 to release on September 12.

Highlighting the Centre's science and technology-based development model, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that India's Global Innovation Index ranking improved from 81 in 2015 to 46 at present due to the central government's efforts.
The Prime Minister on Saturday inaugurated the Centre-State Science Conclave via video conferencing.
Addressing the event, PM Modi said, "We have to make India a global centre of research and innovation in this Amrit Kaal. States should adopt best practices from other states. This will be a step towards ensuring timely and effective implementation of science-led development programs in the country."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Jodhpur on Saturday after offering prayers at the Tanot Mata temple in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan.
He also laid the foundation stone of a tourism development project on the Tanot temple premises and unveiled a plaque.
The minister, who arrived in Jaisalmer on Friday evening, reached Tanot on Saturday morning by helicopter. He laid a floral wreath at the Vijay Stambh.

The BJP has named former Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha bypoll in the state.
Deb will contest from the seat vacated by Manik Saha who replaced him as the chief minister in the run up to the assembly polls in the state early next year.
The bypoll is due on September 22 and Deb's win is all but certain as the BJP has a majority in the assembly.

Changes are required in the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 and "certain dots need to be connected" in the scheme, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Saturday.
In his address at a programme organised by the Delhi Teachers University here, Sisodia said education-related policies should be given a 360-degree view and all aspects, including teacher training, included in it.
"Changes are needed in NEP 2020. There are certain dots that need to be connected in this policy. It is also the vision of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that education-related policies are given a 360-degree view, and all aspects including teacher training should be included in it," he said.
