Gujarat records 10,019 new COVID-19 cases

Gujarat's overall coronavirus tally crossed the 9-lakh mark on Friday with an addition of 10,019 new cases, while two more patients died due to the infection in the state, the Health Department said.
 
With 10,019 new COVID-19 cases, the coronavirus tally shot up to 9,06,913, said a release by the Health Department. On Thursday, the state had reported 11,176 coronavirus cases and five deaths.

Delhi sees decline in COVID-19 cases as it records 24,383 infections

The national capital on Friday recorded 24,383 COVID-19 cases, a 15.5 per cent decline from a day earlier, even as the positivity rate mounted to 30.64 per cent, indicating that every third sample collected for a coronavirus test returned a positive report in the past 24 hours.
 
Thirty-four fatalities were also reported on Friday, according to data shared by the Delhi health department.
 
On Thursday, 28,867 COVID-19 cases were reported, which was the sharpest single-day spike since the beginning of the pandemic, when the city had conducted 98,832 tests.
 
However, Friday's figure of coronavirus cases came out of 79,578 tests, with a senior government official saying the drop in cases may be due to lower testing

Bihar reports over 6,500 fresh COVID-19 cases after eight months

Bihar reported its highest single-day spike in eight months on Friday when more than 6,500 people tested positive for COVID-19.
 
The death toll mounted to 12,121 as two more persons lost their lives to the infection.
 
According to the state health department, the number of fresh cases was 6,541 and the number of active cases has reached 34,089, a more than 300-fold increase since December 30 last when it was just 333.
 
The last time more than 6,500 cases were reported in a day was in May 2021 when the devastating second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak.
 
So far, 7,29,184 people have recuperated from the disease.
