Over 20,900 children in Delhi receive Covid vaccine doses on 1st day

Over 20,900 children of Delhi in the age of 15 to 18 years received Covid vaccine doses on the first day of the inoculation drive of this group of beneficiaries.

In the northeast district, the highest 3,687 children were vaccinated. In the Central district, the least 739 children received the vaccine shots till 6 pm.

As many as 2,667 beneficiaries in the age group of 15 to 18 years in the Southwest district received the shots, 2,268 in the east district and 2,034 in New Delhi.

South Korea records 1st omicron variant death

South Korea says it has confirmed its first death related to the new omicron variant.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said on Monday that the deceased was in their 90s and living at a nursing home in the southern city of Gwangju. It says the person received a second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in October.

Maharashtra records 12,160 new Covid-19 cases, 11 deaths

Maharashtra reported 12,160 fresh coronavirus cases on Monday, 283 more than the previous day, and 11 new deaths, while the active tally crossed the 50,000-mark, the state health department said.
 

With these additions, the state's COVID-19 tally rose to 67,12,028, while the death toll increased to 1,41,553, it said. The state recorded 68 fresh cases of the new coronavirus variant Omicron in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of such infections to 578, the department said.

Jammu and Kashmir records 176 fresh Covid cases

Jammu and Kashmir recorded 176 fresh cases of coronavirus on Monday, taking the infection tally to 3,41,802 while no new death due to the virus was reported from the Union Territory in the past 24 hours.

Out of the fresh cases, 70 were from the Jammu division and 108 from the Kashmir division.

Srinagar district recorded a maximum of 57 cases followed by 46 cases in Jammu district.

Himachal Pradesh reports one Covid-19 death, 137 fresh cases

Himachal Pradesh recorded 137 COVID-19 cases and one fatality due to the disease on Monday, taking the state's infection tally to 2,29,153 and its death toll to 3,862, an official said.

The fresh death was reported from Hamirpur, he added.

Live news: India reported 33,750 new cases of Covid-19 and 123 deaths from the disease, said the health on Monday. The country has 1,700 cases of Omicron, with Maharashtra reporting the most infections for the coronavirus variant.

India begins vaccinating teens aged 15 to 18 from Monday, expanding its inoculation campaign as coronavirus cases spike in the country. Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin will be the only vaccine administered to the age group.

The proposed buyout of general insurance company RahejaQBE by Paytm Insuretech has not found favour with the Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India (Irdai), sending the deal back to the drawing board again.
