Odisha Health Minister Naba Kisore Das died today hours after he was shot by an assistant sub-inspector. The incident occurred around 1 pm at Gandhi Chowk near Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district. The minister was shot in the chest when he was on his way to attend a programme. He was rushed to the Apollo Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. "The injuries were repaired, and steps were taken to improve the pumping of the heart. He was given urgent ICU care. But despite best of efforts, he could not be revived and succumbed to his injuries," the hospital said in a statement.

IndiGo flyer booked for trying to remove cover of emergency exit mid-air
An FIR has been lodged against an IndiGo passenger who tried to remove the cover of the emergency exit mid-air in a Nagpur to Mumbai flight on January 24.
"A passenger travelling on Flight 6E 5274 from Nagpur to Mumbai, allegedly tried to remove the cover of the emergency exit while the aircraft was in the air and on approach for landing," IndiGo said.
"There was no compromise on the safe operation of the said flight," the airline added.

Describing India as one of the leaders of the Global South, UN General Assembly president Csaba Korosi has said there are large similarities between the Indian strategic thinking and that of the UN body on the need for transformation in the world.
Korosi will arrive in India on Sunday on a three-day visit at the invitation of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. It is his first bilateral visit to any country since he assumed his role as President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in September 2022.
