The resolution has been adopted after the parliamentary committee probing Mann's Parliament video footage issued on Thursday recommended the AAP lawmaker's suspension for the rest of the current session.
"The committee, after due deliberations, recommends that Bhagwant Mann, MP, be suspended for the remaining period of the current session i.e. the 10th session of the 16th Lok Sabha," PTI quoted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kirit Somaiya, who headed the nine-member committee as saying.
Mann had earlier apologised unconditionally after being found guilty. However, the committee asserted that there were repeated contradictions in his communications, and therefore, it felt that "tendering of his apology before the committee cannot be treated as unconditional apology".
The video in question was filmed and shared on social media by the AAP MP in July. In the 12-minute video, Mann gives a running commentary on his way to the Parliament complex as his vehicle crosses security barricades. He was also seen entering a room where questions to be taken up inside Parliament were being sorted. Mann faced heat from all quarters for breaching the security at the Parliament complex.
